This free, informative event, "My loved one has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, What do I do?" takes place on Tuesday, September 9th, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Dunwoody United Methodist Church – Asbury Room, located at 1548 Mt Vernon Rd, Dunwoody, GA.

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive movement disorder of the nervous system that affects 1% of the population. It, along with other less known movement disorders cause various symptoms that affect a person’s ability to move and function. Parkinson’s disease is the 2nd most common neurodegenerative diagnosis in those over 60 years old, second to Alzheimer’s Disease. While everyone’s experience in regards to how the disease progresses. varies, Parkinson’s disease and the motor symptoms it causes often leads to a loved one needing more caregiving assistance as they age. Planning ahead for needs is important.

Thanks to scientific research, the diagnosis and treatments for the disease have grown significantly. You will hear from the American Parkinson Disease Foundation about current updates in regards to diagnosis and treatment options as well as best ways to plan ahead to help you and your aging loved one live with the disease.
