This tour celebrates the exquisite skill of the Masters and their Apprentices from centuries ago.
It will transport guests to a different age and world, before the Industrial Revolution, when everything was made by hand, and very little was wasted.
Tour Details
As we walk around Thaxted we learn about several old crafts and see examples of rare pargetting.
Would you know how to milk a cow – before making a cup of coffee in the morning?
This tour reveals the secret fascinating life of the Master and his Apprentice.

Highlights of the tour
Discover fantastic medieval stone carvings of wild men, a Green Man and even a medieval Dragon!
Such beauty in stonework and carvings, opens a dazzling window onto the medieval world and mind!
Do you know how to make a broom? Or look after and keep happy bees?
The Tour
3.30 to 4pm - Guests please meet at local café, for a quick coffee and toilet stop before the tour begins. (Please bring small change).
4pm - Meet your Tour Guide and receive a very warm welcome onto the tour and meet group
Meet out in front of the medieval Guildhall
4pm to 5pm - The walking tour of Thaxted
Easy street walking – 1 hour
5pm to 6pm - Optional Fish and chip meal at local hotel
Fish and chip meal £13, drinks not included

This is easy street walking but 1 hour walking
Must be walking fit
Not suitable for those in wheelchairs, using zimmer frames, or walking sticks(sorry!)
