"For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also" -Matthew 6:21
Commonly known as a junk journal, is a handmade book created by repurposing and recycling various materials, often discarded or found objects like old books, magazines, and tickets. It's a creative outlet that combines elements of scrapbooking, journaling, and art journaling, allowing for the preservation of memories and personal expression through a unique, tactile medium.
Cost: $5 per person to cover some supplies and light refreshments. Venmo @josselyn05 (3750 are the last 4 of the phone number to this Venmo)
What you should bring:
1. Hard book covers (as many as you want to make) that are as close as possible to 8"x5 1/2" size. Go to the thrift store and find yourself some vintage looking books. If you want to paint your cover please bring it already painted.
2. Pages to use for your journal. 9-12 pages per book and you can use either 8 1/2"x11" or 12"x12" size. These are the pages that will hold all the goodies on your treasure journal. Any will do such as magazine pages, newspaper or any vintage looking pages. No worries about what's printed on the pages since they will be mostly covered by all the treasures that will go inside the journal. Do not bring cardstock paper because it's too thick.
3. Decide on a theme for your treasure journal...or not.
Theme ideas:
-Baby Treasure journal-holding baby pictures or little doodles from when your kids were little, hospital bracelet, first hair cut, a piece of fabric from their first worn onesie.
-Wedding Treasure journal
-Friendship Treasure Journal-holding ticket stubs to your favorite show you attended together, travel pictures, school pictures & memorabilia.
-Gardening Treasure Journal-holding some of your favorite seeds, progress pictures of your garden, your favorite dried flowers
-12 months Treasure Journal-where you keep your favorite memories for each month of the year
-Travel Treasure Journal-holding post cards from your travels
Peggy, the person leading the craft will bring all the other supplies including glue, cords and tools to bind our pages to the hard cover book.
This is a great gift for that person who loves thoughtful gifts and cherishes memories. Just create a blank one with a theme and let them fill it out throughout the year. Great Christmas present idea!
