On Thursday 10th July, Dundalk’s beloved acoustic club, the Fireside Sessions at Toales, welcomes Canadian singer, guitarist, and writer Jeff Gandell for his first performance at the venue. Hailing from Montreal, Jeff brings a unique mix of gentle humour and emotional honesty to the stage, with folky songs that first disarm with wit, then reveal something deeper and more reflective.
Jeff’s latest album, Only Human, offers a tender look at what it means to be alive in a world increasingly filled with machines. Recorded live over just three afternoons, the album embraces the beauty of imperfection and the clarity that sometimes comes from chaos. Influenced by greats like John Prine, Loudon Wainwright III, and Mississippi John Hurt, Jeff’s songwriting touches on everything from the quiet absurdities of love to the strange poetry of war, climate anxiety, and childhood wonder.
Expect a set that’s thoughtful, funny, and unapologetically human.
Support on the night comes from local singer-songwriter Eoin Miller, who’ll ease the crowd in with his own brand of heartfelt acoustic tunes.
As always, admission is FREE and the music kicks off at 9PM sharp. If you’re looking for warmth, soul, and a little bit of unexpected insight, Toales is the place to be this Thursday night.
