An Afternoon of Poetry, Music and Songs in Anaverna

We welcome you to participate the afteroon of Poetry, Music and Songs in the Anaverna House, a historic estate nestled amidst the tranquil foothills of the Cooley Mountains on Saturday the 14th of June.

The concert is presented by poet, translator and composer Julian Lowenfeld (USA), pianist John Bryden (UK) and singer, bass baritone, Stephen Allen (UK). They will introduce you to the poetry of W.B Yeats, A. Pushkin, P.B. Shelley, music of Joseph Haydn. This is a unique opportunity to experience the unity of national poets and musicians from different countries in the light of culture and human values.

Julian Lowenfeld was born in USA and became a well known translator of Russian poetry into English, poet, composer, play writer.

John Bryden was born in Edinburgh.
He has piano concerts on land and at sea from California to Katmandhu via Wigmore Hall. Led over 150 Music Tours which have included playing in the churches and museums associated with Handel, Haydn, Beethoven, Chopin, Mendelssohn and other composers.

Stephen Allen is originally from Leicester and based in Oxford since 2000, Stephen Allen is a versatile bass-baritone with a rich background in choral and ensemble singing. Stephen has been an active contributor to Oxfords vibrant choral scene, performing with numerous choirs, chamber groups, and small ensembles, as well as undertaking solo work.
