🌟 Come Discover Our Proposed Next Production – Read Through on Wednesday, 17th December 🌟
We are holding an informal read through of Liz Lochhead’s powerful play “Mary Queen of Scots Got Her Head Chopped Off” on Wednesday, 17th December at 7pm in The Royal Mackintosh Hotel.
This bold, imaginative play explores the rivalry between Mary, Queen of Scots and Elizabeth I, delivered in a distinctive cabaret style with much of the dialogue in Braid Scots. It examines Scotland’s deep sectarian divide and the moment the nation turned from Mary’s Catholicism to the Protestantism of John Knox.
We are considering this play for performance in May 2026, and the read through will help shape the next steps. The production requires a cast of eight, with roles for both men and women of various ages.
Everyone is welcome — current members, past members, and anyone interested in getting involved. We are particularly keen to see new faces in their 20s and 30s.
A second read through is likely to be held in early January, so this won’t be the only opportunity to participate. If you can’t attend but would like to be involved, please let us know.
Please let us know if you would like to come along or just pop along on the 17th.
