It’s been a while since our last work party, so we’d thought we’d take the opportunity to help Dumfries Shine. This project, organised by Dumfries Town Board, is a community, volunteer-led initiative dedicated to cleaning the streets of Dumfries and its surrounding boundaries. The goal is simple: to help make Dumfries a cleaner, brighter, and more vibrant town for everyone.
Dumfries Town Board is providing us with litter pickers, gloves and bin bags so just bring yourself (although you are welcome to bring your own gloves/litter pickers if you have them) and your enthusiasm. We’ll meet at our usual ride start point of the rowing club at Nith Avenue at 11am.
From here we’ll cycle to the Maxwelltown Path via Sandside, and, depending on where the litter is, make our way along the path, stopping to pick litter as we go. If you’d rather join on foot, let us know (

We’ll finish up around 1pm and instead of returning to the rowing club, there is the option to head to the Farmers Market at the railway station. Here you can buy a bite to eat and stock up on your favourite local produce – you’ll have earned it!
