YA Book Launch: Shadows of the Moon with Alice Marks

Zenith Bookstore is excited to welcome Duluth author Alice Springer Marks on Thursday, June 26th at 7 PM. Alice will be launching her new YA book Shadows on the Moon. All middle school, high schoolers, and their families are welcome to attend. There will be treats, book giveaways, readings from the book, and more!

Shadows on the Moon is a mashup meant for young adults (middle school/high school). It is an eco-fantasy set in the moon with a crime substory in Duluth and an important ecological message running through it.

Shadows of the Moon begins during the June full moon in 2017 when the true Queen of the Moon summons her Transporters of Goods and People. Throughout the centuries she has asked her transporters to bring women who suffered abuse. This time she designates a young woman from Duluth, Minnesota, who has not been abused. She wants Kristin Larson with her advanced degree in multiple sciences, to be brought to the Moon to help her keep the Earth from endangering the Moon. When Jon Larson comes home and finds his wife gone, he involves the police.

Alice Springer Marks was born in Wyoming. She grew up there and received her undergraduate degree at the University of Wyoming. She and her husband, Sam, have lived in Duluth for thirteen years. They are both involved in music. Sam directs the Duluth Civic Orchestra, and Alice plays flute. Alice is also involved in many aspects of writing including activities with Lake Superior Writers; leading a writer’s group, Ink Slingers; and teaching writing workshops and classes. Alice has been published in several anthologies for short stories and poetry. One of her poems will be featured in a dance-poetry collaboration.
