Intro to Handmade Craft Tile - 5 Session Course

Learn the art of tile-making in this 5-session course. Guided by experienced ceramic instructors Liz Vandersteen and Sheila Staubus, you’ll create your own set of hand-carved tiles while exploring every step of the process - from forming to design transfer, carving, decorating, and glazing. Tiles will be oxidation fired to cone 7. Both beginners as well as those with experience are welcome as detailed hands-on instruction will be provided.

Each participant will finish the course with 6 handmade tiles, along with practical skills in tile construction, surface design, and glazing techniques.

What to Bring:

Instructors:
Liz Vandersteen and Sheila Staubus have been teaching ceramics in the community for over 15 years. Their deep experience in clay techniques and supportive teaching style make this course accessible and inspiring for all learners.
