History of the Future - Culture Night 2025

Shane Holland, designer and sculptor, presents ‘The History of the Future’. An appreciation of robots, Kraftwerk, Expo 2000, its furniture and the Irish Submarine Man. All within a studio tour with lights, music, chat and refreshments.

His artist journey will be described on a studio tour showing the pieces and the stories around how they come together.

For culture night this year, where we want to introduce his new Robot Series which was inspired by the Fritz Lang film Metropolis and the Godfathers of electronic music, Kraftwerk.

In the studio and gallery tour, our lighting, sculptural pieces and select pieces of furniture from the 25th year anniversary of Expo 2000 (the theme music for this show was done by Kraftwerk) will be on show, alongside the award winning Submarinocurraplane, created in honour of John P Holland, by his namesake Shane (John) P Holland.

Come join Shane Holland, designer and sculptor, on his take on inspirtation from films, music and the past, creating views of the future. From robots to submarines, lights to industrial mosaics, with a sustainable focus on reuse from avaiaton and industrial sources.
