Originally a wooden motte and bailey constructed in 1070. It was then rebuilt as a stone fortification during the 12th Century but demolished by the orders of Henry II of England. The castle was held as a Royalist stronghold during the Civil War and was slighted by order of Parliament in 1649. Although the domestic wing was still habitable, this succumbed to a fire in 1750.
Regarded as one of the most haunted places in the Midlands, are you brave enough to join the Haunted Moments Paranormal Events team at this spooky location?
Poltergeist activity and unexplained figures have been seen all over the castle with sudden drops of temperature has also been recorded.
