About this Event

Women in Data Science (WiDS) is a global effort that strives to inspire and educate data scientists of all genders, as well as support women in the profession. As part of its annual WiDS Worldwide initiative, Women in Data Science (WiDS) UAE 2025 will be organized independently at Heriot-Watt University Dubai. Globally, the conference features outstanding women doing stellar work in the field of data science and WiDS UAE 2025 is no exception.

WiDS UAE 2025 is an opportunity for all data enthusiasts to come together, share knowledge, and celebrate the contributions of women in the field. It will feature an excellent line-up of speakers and panelists from academia, industry, and government who will share their expertise and insights on data science.

Worood Dabbas is a dynamic Data & AI leader driving innovation across the MEA region. With 8 years of experience, she empowers organizations to turn complex technologies into real-world impact. From boardrooms to global stages, she champions diversity, inclusion, and responsible AI. She proudly serves as the Data & AI leader for Women in AI UAE, shaping the future of tech with purpose and passion.

Shaza Elsharief is a Research Assistant at the Clinical Artificial Intelligence Lab. Prior to joining the lab, Shaza obtained a BSc in Computer Engineering from New York University Abu Dhabi in 2023. Shaza’s research interests lie at the intersection of machine learning and healthcare, and she is currently developing self-supervised multi-modal methods for clinical applications.

Dalia Abi Mosleh is a seasoned marketing and media leader with over 13 years of experience in agencies and technology companies. She is known for driving revenue growth and leading strategic partnerships across industries like Government, FMCG, Real Estate, and Entertainment. She currently leads the Government & FDI vertical at LinkedIn, empowering clients with growth-focused strategies. Dalia is also deeply committed to women's leadership, co-leading Women@LinkedIn MENA and serving as Memberships Lead for Connecting Women in Tech (CWIT).

Kubra Canel is an experienced professional within the Oracle EMEA Technology Engineering organization, specialized in Data Science and ML technologies. Her career topics include AI, Big Data, Analytics, Data Science, NLP and Cloud technologies in well-known global companies, and she has contributed to diverse industries in consulting, pre-sales, sales, and business development roles over the last 15+ years.

With a strong academic background in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (BSc & MSc) - and a minor degree in Business Administration, she is a lifelong learner who is currently studying Philosophy degree to further broaden her perspective. Session Abstract: Design Thinking is a creative and user-focused way to solve problems, and it can bring a lot of value to data science projects. In this short session, we’ll look at how applying Design Thinking can help data science teams better understand user needs, define the right problems, and build more useful and impactful solutions.


Hanane El Mir is an accomplished technology sales leader with over 20 years of experience in driving growth, developing strategic partnerships, and delivering innovative solutions across diverse industries. Hanane has a vast technology sales experience that ran across United States, East & West Europe, Middle East, and African regions.

Hanane, equipped with her strong and effective leadership skills, paired with a deep understanding of business development strategies as well as the market, has been a trailblazer in the tech industry, building and developing individuals and teams alike, winning one challenge after another. Her leadership style is deeply rooted in collaboration, customer centricity and empowerment.

Hanane is currently the Vice President for Technology Cloud Sales organization covering SMB in the Middle East & North Africa - leading a team of 9 managers and 49 sales representatives that are working together in providing the best solutions to our customers most complex business needs.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Hanane is passionate about mentoring emerging sales professional and fostering a culture of continuous learning.

Congbo Ma is currently a Postdoctoral Associate at the Clinical AI Lab at New York University Abu Dhabi. Prior to this, she was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Macquarie University and a Visiting Researcher at the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI). She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Adelaide. Her research interests include medical machine learning, natural language processing, data mining, and multi-modal learning.
