DAY 0 :: JUNE 03
Departure to Kathmandu at 12:30. Immigration, overnight.
DAY 1 :: JUNE 04
Connecting flight to Bhutan at 09:00.
On a sunny day flight is marked with the panoramic views of the Himalayas including the Everest. The approach through the tiny airstrip of Paro has been termed as adventurous, by many trekkupers.
Arrive to Paro in the afternoon, check in to hotel and first experience with Bhutanese cuisine.
Later in the day we start a short hike to Kuensel Phodrang (3-4kms). At the top of the hill is located gigantic Buddha Dordenma.
The statute is around 50 meters high and is made of Bronze, glided with gold. The statue fulfills an ancient prophecy dating back to the 8th century A.D that was discovered by Terton Pema Lingpa - Religious Treasure Discoverer and is said to emanate an aura of peace and happiness to the entire world.
On the way visit National Memorial Chorten. Overnight Thimpu.
DAY 2 :: JUNE 05
Drive via Dochu-La Pass to Punakha and hike to iconic Chimi Lhakhang (Temple of Fertility), located on a round hillock on the edge of Punakha Valley.
After lunch our exploration begins with the visit to Punakha Dzong/fort. located between two rivers. It serves as a winter residence for the central monastic body. Built in 1637, it is most beautiful fortress of Bhutan located in between two rivers Pho Chhu (Male River) & Mo Chhu (Female River). Walk to longest Suspension Bridge before check in to hotel.
DAY 3 :: JUNE 06
Today after breakfast and formalities drive to Dochula Pass (3,100m) and begin hike to 18th Century Lungchutse Lhakhang temple (3,565m). This uber picturesque route passes through primary forests of rhododendrons, magnolias, birches, and bamboos, and occasionally meadows that are being used as Yak Pastures.
You will indulge in a view from Lungchutse Lhakhang over the entire Bhutan’s Himalaya and its snow covered peaks. We will then walk downhill for about an hour until we reach Dochula Pass with several landmarks and stupas.
Late afternoon we will have opportunity to be a witness of traditional rural life in Bhutanese village. Optional for those who wants more experience a traditional hot stone bath.
You may also choose to spend a night in bhutanese village.
DAY 4 :: JUNE 07
After breakfast start our last hike to the Taktsang Monastery Tiger’s Nest. During the hike we'll be served picnic lunch among the woods with another amazing view.
Taktsang Monastery (Tiger's nest) abode of gods and monks situated at an altitude of 3100m on the Upper Paro Valley. As per the legend, Guru Rinpoche the tantrum mystic who brought Buddhism to Bhutan, came in the form of Dorje Droloe riding a flying tigress to subdue the demon that was obstructing the spread of Buddhism in Himalayas.
Late afternoon we will have opportunity to witness rural life in Bhutanese village. Optional for those who wants more experience - a traditional hot stone bath.
Lunch and dinner at local restaurant, overnight Paro.
DAY 5 :: JUNE 08
Departure to Kathmandu at 07:00-08:00. Bye bye Bhutan! Short, optional city tour in Kathmandu before return flight at 15:45. Back home at 18:50.
Level of difficulty: Easy - short but steep trails. The grade may be perceived as moderate to beginners.
Activities: hiking, walking, sightseeing and getting amazed!
