We are excited to present this special group. Originally formed in 2018 for the Sunday Hot Club in Brisbane, “Rythme Mélodique” features an unusual line-up of two reeds front line, reminiscent of the Soprano Summit recordings of Bob Wilber & Kenny Davern from the 1970’s.
The name of the band is a literal translation of what the group strives to present - tuneful melodies with an infectious beat. Borrowing from those recordings, the repertoire also includes a few French tunes and some less commonly heard songs, as well as plenty of favourite Swing Jazz standards.
The band for the Toowoomba date is comprised of:
Paul Hendon – clarinet and saxophones
Paul Williams – clarinet and tenor saxophone
Jo Bloomfield – piano
Andrew Shaw - double bass
This will be Paul Hendon’s last performance at the Toowoomba Jazz Club for 2025. Having retired from his engineering career, he is spreading his jazz wings, initially touring his “Goodman Sextet” in SE Queensland, followed by performances in Canberra Jazz Club, Newcastle Jazz Festival, Noosa Jazz Festival, Adelaide Jazz Club and the South Coast Jazz Festival in Goolwa, SA, culminating in attendance at the 79th Australian Jazz Convention in Mildura.
In the meantime, we’re hoping for a full house to strengthen support for bringing visiting musicians such as these to our Club.
With the blending of the two lyrical Pauls, backed by such a wonderful rhythm section, this promises to be a delightful show that should not be missed.

PARKING: Access the car park off Gipps Street or there are parks in front of the bowling green in Ball Street and access via the gate.
ENTRANCE: Up the steps from the car park on the southern side of the building or from the bowling green side. Disabled access ramp on the Western side (Gipps Street) and through the bar.
