Evening visitors will have an opportunity to learn about the vast night sky in Texas Canyon from Bill Buckingham, Executive Director of the 390th Memorial Museum and former Visitors Center Manager, Kitt Peak National Observatory. Experience a guided tour of the constellations with binoculars, viewing deep space wonders and unusual mythology. Away from light pollution, you’ll be surprised by stargazing without a telescope.
With the Fulton Seminar House as our base camp, light refreshments will be provided. Come early and explore the Museum and Galleries, open until 6:00 pm, and included with your ticket.
Participants must bring their own binoculars. Although any kind will do, 7x50 or more powerful will be best.
Bill will provide handouts of sky maps and night sky calendars for all participants.
Please join us for a fun, educational evening adventure at the Amerind. Space is limited.
*Please note that the program will only be held if the skies are expected to be clear this evening.* A postponement of the program will occur if the program is unable to be held due to cloud cover.
Bill Buckingham has been providing educational astronomy experiences including programs, workshops, and interactive exhibits since 1982 for families and schools in a variety of museum, planetarium, and observatory settings.
