LIT LAB: SUMMER LOVIN' (ROMANCE WRITING WORKSHOP)

Join The Doylestown Bookshop’s Summer Workshop Series as we host various authors who will present a variety of topics for upcoming, newly published, or seasoned writers.

This workshop requires tickets. There are multiple options, listed below. The ticket options that include books offer excellent value, as the authors will personally sign the books, and additional books purchased at The Doylestown Bookshop during the evening of the workshop.

Summer Lovin': Start Your First Romance Novel: Exploring Tropes, Traps, and Triumphs

In this fun, practical workshop, we'll break down classic tropes, common pitfalls, and the secrets behind crafting a romance story that readers can't put down. While our focus is on romance, writers of all genres are welcome, especially those curious about the craft of commercial fiction. After a brief tour of the genre landscape, we'll spend time writing, sharing, and cheering each other on. Open to all levels, from brand-new writers to those with more experience looking for a fresh spark.

About Our Guest:

Philip William Stover is the author of The Problem with Perfect, also from Hera, as well as The Hideaway Inn, The Beautiful Things Shoppe, and There Galapagos My Heart. He lives on the Upper Eastside in New York City and in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He has an MFA in writing and is a professor in Global Liberal Studies at New York University. He grew up tearing the covers off the romance novels he devoured so he wouldn't get teased at school. Now he enjoys traveling the world with his husband of over twenty years and would never consider defacing any of the books he loves.
