What is desire? 😍 Take writing a great novel. 📖 Is the desire to have written a great novel (the goal), or the process of writing a great novel (the journey)? 📖📚

How does desire affect our behaviour? Are desires rational or emotional? Does desire play a role in morality? Do we need to desire what is good? Should we? Can we? ⚖

Where do desires come from? Do we choose what desires we have? Or perhaps desire is something that comes from the outside? Maybe desires are imparted to us by society, commercials, etc. and we have little or no influence of what we desire? 🔺👀

If you desire philosophical discussion, join Manx Philosophical Café on Tuesday, August 5, at the Bohemian Café on Strand Street, Douglas. ☕ We start at 19:00 but please come early if you want coffee with the discussion! ⌚☕

Manx Philosophical Café is open, free, friendly, and doesn’t require any kind of previous knowledge. We meet the first Tuesday of every month. ☕
