The Dorset Sunflower Trail - a unique day out in Dorchester
Every August, we open the gates to our sunflower fields in Dorset’s county town of Dorchester for three glorious weeks of adventure, colour and fundraising for the Dorset County Hospital Charity Critical Care Appeal.
You can now book tickets from 1-17 August 2025 (this may be extended to 25 August)

Two trails, endless memories
🌻 The shorter trail (around 10 minutes) is perfect for prams, pushchairs and wheelchairs (weather permitting), making it one of the most accessible family activities in Dorset.�
🌻 The longer trail takes about 30 minutes and is ideal if you want to really stretch your legs and see as many sunflowers as possible!
You’re welcome to do either or both trails and to stay as long as you like.

🌻 The Sunflower Stride in Partnership with Tricounties Trail Running, Saturday 16th August
🌻 Sundowner Sessions - Check out our Thursday evening Sundowner sessions, when the trail stays open from 6.30-9.30pm for live music, a licensed bar and magical sunset views over the sunflowers. These sessions are weather dependent.
🌻 Art in the Sunflowers in Partnership with Art in Poundbury - Artists of all abilities and ages are invited to join us for a day of creativity amidst the Sunflowers on the 9th August. Visit Art in Poundbury to book your space.
🌻 Story time in the sunflowers - We look forward to hosting story time in the sunflowers for children this summer.
🌻 Sunflower Sundowner with West Dorset Pilates - Enjoy a gentle hour-long Pilates session with sunset views over the sunflowers on the 4th August. Bookings can be made through West Dorset Pilates.
🌻 Photography Competition in Partnership with Seven Springs Studio - Capture the beauty of the sunflowers and enter our contest for a chance to win.
🌻 Maiden Castle Farm Café on Wheels - Enjoy fresh local produce next to Maiden Castle, one of the largest and most complex Iron Age hillforts in Europe. We have picnic tables and toilets.
🌻 Take home a memento - Fresh bunches of sunflowers and sunflower gifts can be purchased form our sunshine shack.
