Hey All, Time to get back to hiking!
BLACK FRIDAY HIKE at MONROE RIDGE & THE MONUMENT TRAIL W/ THE DUTCH CREEK & JOHNTOWN FALLS @ Marshall State Park in Coloma. This 7.4 Mi. with 1,056 Elevation. Classified as MODERATE on ALLTRAILS. A beautiful hike and trail named after the Monroes, a black family that came out of slavery and thrived in the gold region. The trails have a ton of scenery and an adventure as we weave up and down a narrow trail to a waterfall!! We are connecting trails and the last one is the waterfall which you can leave off and easily walk back to the parking lot to save a few miles.
Must wear good traction hiking shoes/boots.

Best way to locate address is to put MONROE RIDGE AND THE MONUMENT TRAIL in ALLTRAILS. Second put 248 Ca-49 in Coloma Ca. Should take you to Coloma in Marshal Gold Discovery State Historic Park.
PARKING :
Coming from Lotus Rd you hit HWY-49. Take a right and go south towards Marshal Gold Discovery State Historic Park. First park entrance on left side that parallels the river is entrance. Enter and drive pass kiosk where you pay if no poppy pass. Head towards bathrooms where everyone should be meeting and chatting. Poppy Pass is free parking and $10.00 if you need to pay.
TEMPERATURE: High 71 degrees & perfect.
REQUIREMENTS:
Water, snacks & a lunch jacket, hiking poles, MUST WEAR GOOD TRACTION HIKING SHOES/BOOTS.
