TOURNAMENT RULES
- The Competitive Tournament will use rules and scoring generally accepted within the US Cornhole community
and will be a double elimination bracket style tournament. The tournament organizer will conduct a random
placement for the initial bracket play. Each team is guaranteed to play a minimum of 2 games. Entries must be
submitted with 2 players identified. Maximum of 20 teams.
- The Funzie Tournament will use some of the rules and scoring for cornhole tournaments, with some
omissions, and will have a round robin style tournament. Entries must be submitted as an individual. The
tournament organizer will randomly select individuals for 2-person teams from entries received. Maximum of 20 teams, 40 individuals.
Tournament Rules:
● Each team will have 2 adult players (18 years and over)
● For the competitive tournament: Teams must stay in the same lane in which they start the game. They
cannot change lanes during the game.
● The team listed first tosses first. The team listed second selects the lane/side they will throw from for the
game.
● For the competitive tournament: Players line up directly across from their teammate in the same lane.
● For the competitive tournament: You can only throw a beanbag underhand. Overhand, above the head or
two hand release is a foul.
● The distance between the front of cornhole boards is 27 feet.
● For the competitive tournament: Players cannot step past the front of the board when throwing, if they do
it is a foul and the bag is removed from the playing area, prior to the next toss.
● For the competitive tournament: Touching, adjusting, or aligning a cornhole board during a game is
prohibited. Players may align the cornhole board between games.
● The team to first reach or exceed 21 points at the conclusion of a game is the winner of that game. Teams
do not have to win by 2 points.
● The team who scored points in the previous round goes first in the next round. If neither team scores, the
team who tossed first in the preceding round shall retain the first toss in the next round.
Cornhole Scoring:
▪ The player with the first toss in each round is to announce the score prior to the toss.
▪ A cornhole bag that goes through the hole is worth 3 points.
▪ A cornhole bag that lands on the board and stays there is worth 1 point.
▪ For the competitive tournament: A cornhole bag that lands on the ground or bounces onto the board from
the ground or any object is worth 0 points and is removed from the board prior to the next toss.
▪ The team with the higher score in a round earns the difference in points. For instance, if Team A scores 5
points and Team B scores 2 points in a round, Team A earns 3 points for that round.
