Following a strong period of population and resident growth, Latrobe Council is looking to the future of the Latrobe and Port Sorell townships with an expectation that this demand will continue, in recognition of the liveability that both towns offer.
Mayor of Latrobe, Peter Freshney said “Council has commenced the process of preparing Structure Plans for the Latrobe and Port Sorell townships to guide its position on future growth and development. Building on the objectives of Council’s Strategic Plan 2020–2030, the aim of the structure plans is to ensure that the aspects that are valued by each community are maintained, but also recognising modern day challenges and looking at how these may be addressed.
Draft concepts have been prepared as a ‘conversation starter’ and Council welcomes community and stakeholder feedback over the next four weeks to help it refine its future direction.”
The concepts and supporting information will be available on Council’s website in Latest News and in a publicly accessible display areas at the:
* Latrobe Council Chambers, 170 Gilbert Street, Latrobe
* Banksia Centre, Pitcairn Street, Port Sorell
from Wednesday 30 April 2025.
Comments may be submitted directly online, by email or in hard copy up until Monday 26 May 2025.
To start the conversation, this community information sessions will be held commencing with a presentation then availability to Council representatives to discuss the process and the draft concepts.
Come along and share a cup of tea, thoughts and ideas about what our collective future should look like”, added Mayor Freshney.
