About the Retreat.
The Man To Man Fall Retreat, The Reset is happening this October 17th and 18th at Wayne County Community College's NW Campus in Detroit, Michigan. Guest speakers include Bishop Hugh Daniel Smith of Embassy Covenant Church in Walled Lake, MI; Dr. Jay Barnett of Dallas, TX; and Detroit’s very own Russell Harris of Warrior Academy and Love and Marriage - Detroit.
The Man to Man Project has been active within the Detroit landscape and across the United States for fifteen years with intergenerational programming, monthly empowerment outreaches, as well housing programs for Detroit youth and young adults.
Our Annual Fall Retreat has been designed as a crucible of transformation for brothers in transition from one location to another. As a diverse body of men, we strive to empower healthy masculinity. During the retreat, plenary sessions, wellness activities, panels, and other inspiring elements will be curated by men at the highest levels of mastery in their respective fields. They will be sharing their experiences to help us become better, healthier men - mentally, physically, financially and spiritually.
The Man to Man Fall Retreat is a community empowerment experience that will empower the best of what it is to be a man holistically. Sessions will target internal, mental, physical and spiritual healing and development.
Bishop Hugh Daniel Smith will open the retreat with a spiritual call to battle ready faith on Friday night. This session will be preceded by our Fatherhood Panel, “Resetting Generational Leadership in the Family through Fatherhood,” and electric worship with recording artist, Darius James. On Saturday morning during breakfast, there will be a panel on, “Resetting Brotherhood: Man's Need for Establishing Solid Friendships.” Followed by worship with local favorite, C3! Leading mental health expert, Dr. Jay Barnett, will present a powerful session, The Mental Reset.
After our Saturday morning session, there will be an outdoor afternoon physical activity with Russell Harris and the Man to Man trainers. There will be food trucks, health screenings, a DJ and fellowship. There will also be financial wellness presentations throughout the weekend’s experience from sponsors, Community Financial Credit Union and Chase Bank.
Brothers, bring your family and friends. Fathers, bring your sons. Grandfathers, Uncles, and mentors bring your families and community!
The audience is intergenerational. Age 12 and up are welcome.

About The Man to Man Project, Inc.
Fifteen years ago, Dexter Sullivan embarked on a God-given assignment to raise up men, bringing light to their darkness. With a commitment to expose, educate and empower the next generation of young leaders as they awaken to purpose, we have been blessed to mentor thousands of young men across the country since 2010. Our work has spanned the educational system, juvenile justice and corrections facilities, and young men of every stage and phase. The work has evolved to interact inter-generationally, as is indicated by our name, Man to Man. Elders teaching our young men, and our young men teaching our youth. In our mentoring spaces, you will often see three generations present at one time.
The Man to Man Project, Inc., is the official men’s outreach of the Black Legacy Advancement Coalition. The Coalition’s first brick and mortar space was founded in 2022, the Ali Legacy House for Men, in memory of the late Ishmail Ali, Dexter’s childhood friend, as well as first and truest inspiration for community service work. Each month, The Man to Man Project hosts a community dinner for young men in Detroit where we fellowship around a meal, intentionally curated conversations and group mentorship about a specific topic.
