CE: Innovations in Soft Tissue Grafting to Maximize Dental Implant Esthetics

Course Description:
This presentation is specifically designed to highlight management of the soft and hard tissues for the dental implant patient. A periodontal perspective is used to discuss three different time points (Pre, During and Post-implant placement) to establish a healthy implant foundation. The first part discusses consequences of tooth loss, gingival tissue assessment, mucogingival problems and treatment solutions to correct gingival recession and alveolar ridge deficiencies for predictable dental implant placement. The second part discusses pedicle soft tissue grafting procedures to enhance peri-implant tissues for esthetic outcome. The third part explains peri-implant disease classification and treatment modalities to restore function and esthetics. Clinical cases and surgical videos will be utilized to aid the clinician in evidence-based decision making for successful and predictable results.

Course Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

-Understand consequences of tooth loss and rationale for ridge preservation.

-Identify peri-implant tissue deficiencies (gingival recession and alveolar ridge defect).

-Recognize correct restorative and surgical sequencing for predictable esthetic outcomes.

-Select appropriate surgical techniques to augment alveolar ridge defects.

-Be familiar with peri-implant disease classification and surgical treatments for peri-implant diseases.
