BROKOF is an alternative folk rock band based in Berlin, Germany. The 4-piece released debut Softly, Softly, Catchee
Monkey in 2010. Sophomore album Side By Side (LP, 2012) opened the bands work to a wider audience as it was highly
praised by critics and shortly got them nick-named Spree-Beatles. „Put simply: in Brokof, one of Germany’s most
interesting folk-rock bands awaits discovery.“ wrote german STERN.
With Eviction Notice (EP, 2015) BROKOF offered a first glimpse of third album Cool Fame (LP, 2016) and toured Europe
with the EP as a giveaway to their fans. The ROLLING STONE saw Cool Fame related to the work of CSNY and The
Who and called it „plain and beautiful“.
A year later the band released Brother Equal (LP, 2017) a collaboration with american singer Random Willson.
Fore! (LP, 2018) was „Again, one can hear how well Brokof play together, allowing the arrangements to breathe, instead
of pinning them to the ground…“ ROLLING STONE
As the four bandmembers are also owners of the POPSCHUTZ-STUDIO in Berlin, the pandemic of 2020 had them have their studio all to themselves. What followed was a creative seclusion, the band actually enjoyed. Suddenly they had a lot of time on their hands and no one to tell them what to do and though they didn’t exactly plan on making a new album yet, many of the songs on Blind Spot on The Bright Side of Life (LP, 2024) originate from that period.
With the six-minute single Share, followed up by another single Not At All (a song that was twenty years in the
making) the band announced their return to society in 2022 and started playing live again. A couple more singles
followed, before Blind Spot on The Bright Side of Life (LP, 2024) was released on Vinyl and Digital.
„With a riff-country-song like ”Time & Space“ or with “Share” we love to take a trip into the unknown“ wrote ROLLING
STONE and SOUNDS AND BOOKS mused: „Blind Spot On The Bright Side Of Life“ has the potential to stay for a long
time – this album is a potential Grower.”
In 2024 the band was touring Germany and Europe and for the first time played shows in the U.S.A. This year ends with
a new five-song-EP called Troublemaker (EP, December 13, 2024).
