β’β’ THE MESMERISTS β’β’
Fresh from their 2024 release, The Way of the Sun, The Mesmerists, the evocative brother-sister duo, dove back into their craft with unwavering dedication. Sequestered in their creative haven, they poured their hearts into their senior full-length album, a work meant to mark the next chapter of their musical odyssey. With pride and purpose, they now present βThe Last Loveβ, a captivating blend of roots, folk, psych, and indie rock. This album, their most refined yet, is both intricate and deeply moving, a heartfelt collection of songs for lost love and tender wounds. On July 19th, they invite you to experience these new songs brought to life.
β’β’ THE BIRD HUNTERS β’β’
Taking their name from a Turnpike Troubadours song, the band draws a lot of influence from bands like Turnpike, who weave heartfelt lyrics and deeper-meaning songwriting into foot-stomping, rowdy country music for the party crowd. The Bird Hunters are unwilling to trade shallow lyrics for a good time and true honest songwriting is always at the center of the music they make.
The Bird Hunters claim the genre βMidwest Countryβ drawing influence from the radio they grew up listening to and the stories theyβve been told their whole lives. Iowa is known for its non-regional diction so you wonβt find any fake accents but the twang is well represented in their telecasters and the rhythms are made for two-stepping.
Principal songwriter and vocalist Ethridge Netz (Cory Waller & The Wicked Things, Ronley King Band) is joined by producer and bassist Blake Van Houten (Golden Bear Records), Chris Hansen (Brad & Kate, Maddie Poppe, Iowa Master Angler) on drums, and Trevor Hill on pedal steel and auxiliary instruments.
β’β’ THE SAPWOODS β’β’
he Sapwoods are a Midwestern Rock and Roll band hailing from Iowa City. The music they make has a strong focus on song- writing, energetic drumming, catchy melodies, jangly to nasty fuzzed out guitars, punchy organ and wiggly keys, classic pop inflections, vocal harmonies, and a wandering sway from one style to another all the while maintaining the sound that the band makes collectively.
