Meet Your Instructors
Instructor: Lee Ann Brady, DMD
Dr. Lee Ann Brady is a distinguished professional who holds the esteemed positions of Executive Director and Director of Education at the Pankey Institute. With an illustrious career in dental education, Dr. Brady previously served as the Director of Education from 2017 to 2019 before assuming her current leadership roles.
A nationally recognized lecturer and educator, Dr. Brady embarked on her dental education journey as the clinical director of The Pankey Institute from 2005 to 2008. Following that, she served as the Executive VP of Clinical Education for Spear Education from 2009 to 2011. In addition to her roles at the Pankey Institute, Dr. Brady maintains a private dental practice in Glendale, AZ.
Dr. Brady’s expertise is not only evident in her professional roles but is also showcased through her contributions to nationally recognized dental publications. She has been featured on the editorial boards of prestigious journals such as Inside Dentistry and The Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Her profound love for dentistry and dedication to dental education find roots in her own transformative journey as a participant in Pankey’s curriculum. Driven by her passion, she currently leads the organization, and being recognized as a Pankey master stands as one of the highest accomplishments in her illustrious career.
Instructor: Mike Crete, DDS
Dr. Mike Crete received his DDS degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1986 and an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Central Michigan University in 1982. He wrapped up his dental school years serving as the National Chair of the ADA Commission on Young Professionals (Young Dentist Committee).
Dr. Crete started his practice in 1986 by renting an operator from a colleague and had a private practice for 33 years. He then transitioned his practice to a young dentist. After a short hiatus from practice, he partnered with a new dentist to purchase a rural practice. He mentored the young dentist for a few years and then turned over the reins of the practice. He retired from clinical practice in 2023.
Over the past 38+ years Mike has grown his practices while helping multiple dentists transition their practice to young associates. He enjoys mentoring and coaching young dentists in the clinical aspects of comprehensive care. Mike has a particular interest in teaching colleagues to practice management and business skills. He credits Dr. Jim Pride, Dr. Mike Schuster and Dr. Richard Green for helping him to develop his expertise and passion for the business of dentistry.
Mike has been involved in leadership roles in dentistry since his early days in dental school where he served as the national president for ASDA. He was a charter member of the ADA’s Commission on Young Professionals (New Dentist Committee) and has served on various committees for the ADA, MDA and West Michigan Dental Association. Dr. Crete has served on a variety of church, community and non-profit boards including several years as President of the Chamber of Commerce in his hometown. Mike’s primary leadership skills are boardsmanship, team-building and strategic planning. He is a member of the AACD, ADA, MDA and WMDS.
Mike currently serves as a visiting faculty member at the Pankey Institute. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the L.D. Pankey Foundation, Inc. Mike currently works as part of the Development and Alumni Relations team at the Pankey Institute.
Instructor: Richard Hunt III, DDS
Dr. Richard Hunt, III maintains a restorative practice in Rocky Mount, N.C., where he enjoys the unique privilege of working with his wife, Dr. Amy Hunt. The Hunts strive to lead a practice that is focused on developing trusting relationships with their patients and helping them make healthy, proactive choices regarding their dental care.
Dr. Hunt began studying at the Pankey Institute in 1993 and credits this ongoing experience with providing a strong foundation of clinical and behavioral skills that are necessary to provide comprehensive care. He is passionate about facilitating the personal and professional growth of dental students and young dentists. He leads the Dental Practice Readiness course for the D4 class at the UNC School of Dentistry and is a lead faculty member for the Essentials 1 curriculum at the Pankey Institute.
Dr. Hunt firmly believes in the motto of “Quid, Pro, Quo” and is compelled to give back through active service to his community, to his church, and to his profession. He has served as chair of the local school board and is an Elder of First Presbyterian Church in Rocky Mount.
Professionally, Dr. Hunt has served as a director and chair of the Pankey Foundation Board, president of the NC Dental Society, chair of the UNC Dental Foundation of NC, the ADA Council on Dental Practice, the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB), the Dental Auxiliary Learning and Education Foundation and the Eastern Dentist Insurance Company.
Instructor: Christine Shigaki, DDS
A native of Seattle, Dr Shigaki, attended University of Washington during her undergraduate studies and graduated from University of the Pacific Dean Dugoni School of Dentistry. She started in the dental field as an assistant and front office person during her undergraduate years.
Early in her career, she associated herself with several practices, while filling the rest of her workdays with temporary hygiene work. With the support and encouragement from her career long mentor, Dr. Shigaki started her Pankey studies in 1999, where she continues her learning.
Dr. Shigaki is passionate about the fundamentals of what the Pankey Institute teaches. Relationship based, comprehensive care, allows her to have a life balance between a very fulfilling career, family, and other interests. In 2003, she started her private practice in the Belltown neighborhood of Seattle, where she currently practices. She has been a part of the visiting faculty since 2018 and supports several local Pankey based study clubs. Her hope is that others will also find their joy in dentistry in the many opportunities at the Pankey Institute.
