Play with Clay Day! Intro to Throwing on the Pottery Wheel

Ever wanted to try using the pottery wheel? Well here’s your chance! We will use 1 lb balls on the potters wheel with the intention of making small bowl forms. What we make will be just for fun but you’ll have endless tries at throwing on the potters wheel! At the beginning of each hour I will show you a quick throwing demonstration to get you on the right track. Don’t worry I will still be there the entire time to help along the way. With my guidance I will ensure everyone will walk away learning something fun and new!
After class, Students will clean up their wheel throwing station and then have the option to keep something “worth keeping”, for an additional $12 per kept item. Items that are worth keeping are both up to you and the instructor. All Kept items will be brought back to my studio for proper firing. All pieces will be dipped in a clear glaze to make the item food and drink safe. The firing process will take about a month or so. Once finished pieces will be brough back to Tom&Chickpea for pick up.
