Forbidden Planet Derby Launch

Forbidden Planet - one of the UK’s best-known retailers of pop culture themed toys comics and Manga - has announced that it is coming back to Derby in support of the growing fan base of all things pop culture three decades after closing its doors.

This will be the company’s 18th store and it will be located at 28 St Peters St Derby creating 10 jobs with an opening event being held on 21st June when it will be officially opened by special superhero guests and store manager Joshua Knowles.

Spread over 5000 sq ft the Derby Forbidden Planet will feature a huge Manga book section a large wall of Funko figures that will delight every POP! collector and a massive variety of blind box figures - including the top brands like POPMART Sonny Angels Mighty Jaxx - as well as Forbidden Planet's continual introduction of the new brands like Kaleidos. For comic and graphic novel fans there will be a massive collection including an extensive back issue comic section. The store also has its very own old walk-in bank vault for customers to explore as well as a large space for future Trading Card Game and fandom events. 

Dan King Forbidden Planet UK Operations Manager says: “We are thrilled to be coming to Derby. We know we have a lot of like-minded people in the city and are really looking forward to meeting them all. 

“We have our store in Nottingham but the demand is high in this part of the UK so we are delighted to provide another prime Midlands location!”

Joshua Knowles store manager says: “We are so pleased to be coming back to Derby after more than 30 years’ hiatus. Derby is so creative and brimming with fans of every type of range we stock so we can’t wait to open.”
