Pottery Vases or Vessel
Come and join us in a Coiling Session.
Coiling is a traditional handbuilding technique in ceramics where long, snake-like coils of clay are rolled and stacked to create pottery vessels.
Coiling is one of the oldest methods of pottery-making, dating back over 8,000 years to the Neolithic era. This technique involves rolling out clay into long, cylindrical pieces (coils) and layering them to construct a vessel. The coils can be smoothed together for a seamless surface or left exposed for a textured effect. This method allows for greater flexibility in shaping the pottery, making it ideal for creating both functional and sculptural forms.
During this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn basic skills of shaping and designing using real clay. We will be using a white clay which has a slight gritty natural texture.
Your vessel will then be bisque fired, glazed with a choice of colour glaze available and fired again.
We will notify you with Dates and Times available for collection.
Beginner-friendly. No prior art skills needed, you can come to learn, have fun, connect, chat and sip!
All workshop materials are supplied.
Aprons are available to protect your clothing if required.
