PLAY IT FORWARD - Celebrate 50 LOVE and give to a new generation of tennis athletes!
Give tennis to a new generation of athletes by giving them access, lessons, gear, and competition! Here is a link to some giving options and what your gift will give to others. Choose from a variety of options—or give what you can! (Note: This link goes to the ColoradoGives.org page for The Park People, the governing operating organization. It is a non-profit tax-deductible gift.)
Gates Tennis Center was founded and funded by the Gates Family Foundation to share the love of tennis with all who want to play. Providing country club-level excellence in facilities, programs, training, and competition was the Gates Family Foundation's gift to our Denver community in collaboration with Denver Parks and Recreation, and operated by The Park People!
From humble beginnings as a landfill property (yes! in Cherry Creek!), later part of Pulaski Park, and finally designated as a tennis center annexed from a section of Pulaski Park, the Gates Tennis Center began in 1975 during an exciting era of tennis. In 1975, American Arthur Ashe held his Wimbledon trophy high! Billie Jean King, a California public tennis facility athlete, won in the famous The Battle of The Sexes vs. Bobby Riggs. Two power house tennis champions Chris Evert competed with Iron Curtain defector Martina Navratilova—and are fast friends to this day.
