Art therapy with some good wine
Being creative is something that we are from the moment we are born. This event is a quiet event, not meant for small talk or networking, just a place for you to come and make marks to find a moment to get lost in your thoughts. No prior art experience needed - just bring your enthusiasm and we'll provide all the materials. Let your energy flow as you enjoy a glass of something. We will have some light snacks, some tea, and good wine. The event is led by Ayka Williams, a Rhode Island School of Design graduate, with over 15 years of design experience. She is currently a mentor and founder and is passionate about helping people find that safe space for peaceful quiet reflection. The meditation before painting will be led by Reiki Master, Shephali founder of Quietly Healing. All participants will get a discount code for Distance Reiki.
About Ayka
A passionate artist with a Master's in Fine Arts and a rich undergraduate foundation, I create spaces where creativity serves as a pathway to inner clarity. My approach has been deeply influenced by workshops with Sheila Darcy of SketchPoetic, whose contemplative methods have shaped my practice.
In this session, I'll be guiding participants through reflective pen and ink exercises designed not to teach artistic technique, but to foster quiet contemplation and self-understanding. This isn't about creating "good art"—it's about using the meditative quality of drawing to quiet the mind and listen to your thoughts.
I firmly believe everyone is inherently creative. My role isn't to teach you how to make art, but to facilitate an environment where the simple act of putting pen to paper becomes a tool for mindfulness and self-discovery. The focus is on the process, not the product.
Join me for a gentle, introspective experience where we'll use the humble pen as a means to slow down, create space between thoughts, and develop deeper self-awareness in our often-hectic lives. No artistic experience needed.
Info: Everyone will grab some food and drinks and take supplies to their seats.
Info: Shephali has recorded a meditation session for us. The goal is to be present and let everything else go.
Info: Ayka will talk about different types of marks. She will break down the process of exploration without self criticism.
Info: Explore with your tools as El Javi explores on his guitar.
