EcoAction Lab: Slingshot Challenge Workshop for Environmental Changemakers

EcoAction Lab invites Girl Scouts to step into the role of environmental changemakers through a day of interactive, hands-on learning. This engaging workshop supports youth in developing conservation skills and empowers them to take real action for the planet—all while exploring how to participate in the National Geographic Slingshot Challenge.

Workshop Activities Include:

• Eco-Quiz: Put your eco-knowledge to the test with a fast-paced trivia challenge covering environmental facts and figures.
• Trash or Treasure: Sort through mock waste to better understand recycling, composting, and waste reduction strategies.
• Water Warriors: Construct a mini water filtration system and simulate the purification process while learning about clean water access
  and conservation.
• Take Action: Community Conservation Challenge – Apply your knowledge in a hands-on community clean-up at a nearby park,
  demonstrating your commitment to real-world environmental change.
  
  Event Highlights:
• Onsite Slingshot Challenge Support: Participants ages 13–18 will have the opportunity to create and submit a one-minute (or less) video idea for the National Geographic Slingshot Challenge. Girl Scouts of Colorado staff will be available onsite to help with filming and setting up submission accounts. Youth who submit a video could win up to $10,000 in scholarship funding and have their conservation ideas spotlighted on a national stage. • All participants will earn the National Geographic Slingshot Challenge patch to wear with pride on their vest or sash.
  
  This event is recommended for youth ages 10 and up. Caregivers may use their discretion when registering younger participants.
  
  This event is open-house-style running from 1 - 4 p.m. and activities taking attendees approximately one hour to complete. Time slots are provided to help us anticipate arrival times and ensure a smooth, comfortable experience for all participants.
