Cherokee Basket Weaving Class

Join us for a unique and immersive basket weaving workshop led by Salix, a Muscogee/Cherokee artist and instructor. The first 45 minutes will explore Indigenous history and the Cherokee tradition of basketry, followed by a hands-on lesson where you’ll learn how to start, shape, and finish your own basket using natural and dyed reeds. Be prepared to get your hands wet as you craft a meaningful piece to take home! Salix, a queer two-spirit artist and self-proclaimed “elder millennial,” brings rich cultural knowledge and a passion for mindful, community-centered art.
