Support-Centered Housing builds on the longstanding success of Housing First principles as an evidence-based approach which prioritizes housing as a first step — but not the only step — towards stability for those experiencing homelessness. This proven model includes crisis intervention, rapid access to housing, case management, and support services which help people sustain long-term housing and stability.
A wide body of local, state, and national research demonstrates the effectiveness of this approach, including locally with the Social Impact Bond (SIB) program. This panel will feature experts who have conceptualized and implemented this strategy effectively. Panelists will discuss how Support-Centered Housing works, as well as the evidence which supports its effectiveness a compared to work-first or treatment-first options.
Panelists:
- Katie Bonamasso, Director, Mountain West, The Corporation for Supportive Housing
- Sarah Gillespie, Associate Vice President, Housing and Communities Division, The Urban Institute
- Megan Lindner, Associate Director of Housing Supportive Services (Scattered Site), Colorado Coalition for the Homeless
-Serena Thomas, Programs Director, Homeward Alliance
This session is designed for those who want to listen, learn, ask questions, advocate, and engage with important information and proposed solutions to improve the lives of people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.
