Historian Timothy Snyder says we are not born free. Rather, we can become free depending on the action of others, upon structures and values, and depending on our own courage. Unitarian Universalism values freedom, freedom from tyranny and freedom to thrive.

Reverend Lora Brandis is a community minister who provides preaching to local congregations and serves as an on-call hospital chaplain. She is also the part-time Faith Forward Coordinator for First Unitarian Church of Dallas and a certified spiritual director. Two days a week she and her husband Frank take care of twin grandchildren Rose and James. Lora previously served congregations in Utah, Idaho, California, and Texas.
