Tess Blum’s Bio
Tess Blum has dedicated her life to artistic expression, weaving creativity through every chapter of her journey. With accomplished careers in textile design and art education behind her, she now turns her focus to the luminous world of glass arts—mosaics, stained glass, and an enduring love for painting.
Her process is an interplay of intention and intuition. While some mosaic pieces are meticulously shaped, others are guided by the spontaneous charm of found fragments. Tess embraces the magic that emerges when materials speak for themselves—allowing reflections and textures, shine and softness, to dictate the direction of the work.
Inspired by the natural beauty of her Florida surroundings, she transforms cut glass into evocative compositions often mistaken for paintings at a glance. Upon closer inspection, the viewer discovers thousands of intricately arranged shards forming delicate, vibrant scenes—each one a testament to the precision and passion behind the art.
She now teaches classes in Beginner and ongoing Mosaics, Stained Glass and various painting techniques at her beautiful DeLand Historic District studio. Details and registration for classes at www.tessblumart.com under DeLand Classes.
