DIY Mushroom Cultivation with Willoughby Arevalo

This interactive workshop will start with a presentation covering basic mushroom biology and an overview of the entire cultivation process, and will conclude with the hands-on process of making a grow bag and learning how to care for it!

Techniques covered include:

• Cloning mushrooms to start cultures
• Growing and using liquid culture
• Making and using grain spawn
• Growing mushrooms on straw, sawdust, and other wastes
• Indoor fruiting
• Outdoor mushroom gardens and logs
• Building equipment and infrastructure
• Profiles of commonly cultivated mushroom varieties
