History Chat and Ice Cream Social

Please join us at 2:00 at the gazebo close to the entrance of Penitente Canyon for a chat lead by local archaeologist Ken Frye. He will discuss the history of Penitente Canyon and the San Luis Valley. Ice cream will be served, and you may bring a bowl or cup if you wish. Cones and disposable cups will also be available.
This event is in conjunction with A Jam In The Rockies, Aug 7-9, Penitente Canyon campground Group Site One. Each night, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the campfire jam will commence at 5:00. Pickers, jammers and listeners are all welcome. This is a free community event. Some people reserve campsites, some pitch a tent at Group Site One, some will pull up and sleep in their vehicles, and some just drop by for an evening. It’s not a public event like a festival, but you are invited.
