Worship Service: Resurrection FOMO & Literal Dangers

This week, we explore the earliest letter of the Apostle Paul, a letter of assurance to a congregation that has experienced recent deaths in the community. Since Paul preached about Jesus returning in their lifetimes, are they now separated by death? Paul assures the community that even in death they are part of the new creation. To give evidence, he provides vivid imagery of the reunion of the recently deceased, the present living members, and the Lord. From other literature, we can see that early believers felt they were the last generation before God's realm would be fully present on earth. Join us as we explore the expectations and the dangers of a literal understanding of apocalpytic hope.
