Hummingbird Festival

Experience the wonder of hummingbirds up close at the Macon County Conservation District’s annual Hummingbird Festival, taking place on Thursday, August 21, from 3-6 pm at Rock Springs Conservation Area.

Attendees can watch as wild hummingbirds are carefully caught, banded, and released, offering a rare glimpse into the world of these fascinating creatures. Arrive early for a chance to help release a hummingbird and enter a drawing to win a special prize. Bring a lawn chair to the west lawn of Rock Springs Nature Center and enjoy the afternoon. You are welcome to bring your own snacks or picnic dinner to make the most of the experience.

The festival is free to attend, with donations gratefully accepted. This event is co-sponsored by the Decatur Area Audubon Society.
