Beyond: What Good Is Church?

What is church for?
It's a question that a lot of us are asking these days. Many of us live in a time, a place, and a cultural context that no longer values church the way it once did, and we are facing questions about our true purpose. And the more we try to "fit," the less it seems we really do. Our reading from Luke reveals Jesus visiting the synagogue in Nazareth, likely his childhood congregation. Using the words of Isaiah, Jesus reveals his purpose in life, and its already-present fulfillment. When searching for answers, they are often discovered to already be found.
