Summer Camp: Intro to Coding

For students going into grades 4-7 in the fall of 2025.

Dive into the exciting world of robotics and coding with our Intro to Coding workshop! This 3-hour program is designed for youth in grades 7-10, offering a hands-on introduction to programming using Spike Prime robotic tools. Participants will master the fundamentals of block coding to bring their pre-built robots to life, starting with the basics of defining motors and precise movements. They’ll learn simple commands for turns, controlling speed, and achieving accuracy with speed. We’ll also explore motor setup, experiencing the differences when a robot knows where it is placed versus random points. To further enhance their robots’ capabilities, we will then begin playing with sensors, including color, ultrasonic (distance), and touch sensors, allowing robots to react to their environment. Get ready for a fun-filled session of problem-solving, creativity, and discovery as you become a true programmer!
