This Saturday's meet-up, on August 16th, is a tour of the fabulous Daytona Beach Permaculture Guild headquarters. Jenny Nazak's permaculture urban oasis stacks a wealth of permaculture functions into an artfully designed 1/10 of an acre right in the urban hub of beachside Daytona. The edges of the property are permeable to the passerby, with benches, active research stations functioning to produce one form of energy or another, waste-stream repurposed as art and useful items, and spaces dedicated to slowing down, demonstration, creating, aging in place, community outreach and local activism.
Folks can enjoy a shared food forest gleaned meal, go home with a cutting of a Mexican Chaya spinach tree, and have a rare chance to immerse themselves for a moment in a wholistic lifestyle and livelihood that reflects many of the Permaculture principles we all aspire to and need to see in action.
To help with parking and conserve energy use, please indicate if you would be willing to ride share and be a driver (how many can you fit?) or if you would like to be a passenger for a ride share put that in the comments. I would like to pick up two people between Ormond-by-the-Sea and Daytona.
P.S. You don't want to miss this meet-up. It is just the shot in the arm you need to feel hopeful and inspired by creative and conscientious living, and the Daytona Permaculture Guild is not normally open to the public. Please spread the word and ride share! The meet-up tour in Daytona, is this Saturday, come at noon or join in when you can. The event is free and open to the public.
