“Pushout: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools" Documentary Screening And Discussion

Pushout is a feature-length documentary that takes a close look at the educational, judicial, and societal disparities facing Black Girls. The documentary confronts how the misunderstanding of Black girlhood has led to excessive punitive discipline, which in turn disrupts one of the most important factors in their lives, their education. As we continue to explore the concepts taught by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. of conscience and justice, here’s a great opportunity to increase awareness of this troubling trend. This screening will take place in the Deep End. United Women of Faith will host a short discussion following the movie - all are welcome! Child care is provided with a 7-day notice.
