About the event

Weaving Masterclass with Injalak Arts and Culture
Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair (DAAF) warmly invites you to explore our series of Masterclass events as part of the 2025 Public Program. Learn from the masters and be guided and inspired by DAAF’s incredible artists and makers as they share their stories and knowledge of both ancient and contemporary techniques - and take home your own piece from the Fair!

Immerse yourself in weaving with renowned artists from Injalak Arts and Culture. Everything you need will be provided, you'll learn weaving techniques using natural fibres and create your own unique woven piece to take home and treasure!

DAAF’s Public Program Masterclasses have been developed with both artist and participant experiences in mind. Masterclasses have a three hour time slot allocated so that participants can feel comfortable and grasp new techniques with confidence. Participant numbers are also capped to ensure an intimate experience.

Meet the Art Centre: Injalak Arts Centre, a captivating hub of creativity nestled in the heart of Gunbalanya, in Australia’s Northern Territory. Situated in West Arnhem Land, it is here that the ancient art forms of the Kunwinjku people come to life through the skilful hands of our talented artists.

Be sure to stop by their DAAF booth and head to their website to learn more: injalak.com

Brought to you by Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair, the Public Program is proudly supported by the Northern Territory Government through Northern Territory Major Events Company, Copyright Agency, Wesfarmers and premium media partner Peppermint Magazine.
