Country to Couture celebrates a 10 year legacy of cultural integrity, artistic innovation, and community empowerment.
Join DAAF Foundation’s Indigenous Fashion Projects for the 10th Country to Couture, this August 5 on Larrakia Country at the Darwin Convention Centre. Where First Nations textiles, fashion and art collide in a colourful runway showcase of collections from across Australia.
The iconic runway is an empowering community celebration of storytelling through contemporary designs, grounded in over 60,000 years of ancient cultures. The largest showcase of First Nations fashion in Australia, its 10 year milestone represents more than just a decade of runway shows—it embodies a cultural revolution that continues to redefine Australian fashion.
2025 boasts 22 new collections across two shows, the largest showcase yet. From remote community Art Centres and artists, to independent designers and exciting community collaborations - this year’s lineup packs a punch.
10th Country To Couture - Show 1: Threads of Country
A breathtaking runway experience that honours the deep connection between First Nations people and the land through fashion. Showcasing a powerful blend of traditional and contemporary designs, the runway celebrates timeless stories, and modern expressions, which are masterfully woven into every garment, and feature colour palettes drawn from Country itself. Earthy neutrals, soft sand tones, and blues of the sky and water. Each piece reflects the strength and natural beauty of the land and water.
This runway is a tribute to the enduring inspirations of Country and the designers who carry its echoes into the future. The featured collections include:
