Live and Local is a monthly gig night showcasing and celebrating North East artists and bands.
House Proud: Emerging from the North East of England, House Proud are a post-punk outfit formed in 2023. Since their inception, the band has built a reputation through a steady run of live shows, sharpening a sound that channels the intensity of Joy Division, the industrial edge of Killing Joke, and the urgency of Fugazi. Their music is marked by jagged, angular guitars, driving, uncompromising bass and drums, and gritty, raw vocals.
Cateyes: A post-hardcore band based in Leeds, Cateyes has a writing style that is influenced by bands such as Modern Color, julie, and Fleshwater. Layering melodic and abrasive guitars over pounding drums and focused, purposeful vocals, Cateyes have found a sound that is distinctly their own. They’ve performed at venues like Headrow House, The Key Club and Hyde Park Book Club supporting artists such as ‘Mass of the Fermenting Dregs’, ‘Mannequin Death Squad ’and ‘BEX’.
They deliver a gritty, immersive sound that blurs melody and chaos. “Cateyes lean well into the wall-of-noise aesthetic. There’s nowhere for your ears to escape…” Their music stays grounded in post-hardcore, combining heavy, high-energy playing with a sharp sense of dynamic and melodic contrast.
The Arcadias: Original high energy surfy, bluesy, punky alternative rock from the North East.
