Here is a new and highly requested class!!
In this hands-on pottery class, you'll explore the art of handbuilding using the slab technique to create a unique and functional planter. This class will guide you through constructing a beautiful 6-inch-tall, 7-inch round planter at its widest, perfect for showcasing your favorite plants. Whether you're new to clay or a seasoned maker, you'll learn how to manipulate raw clay to create a striking piece of pottery. There will be lots of textures to choose from to make your piece unique.
You will learn the key steps of joining your slabs, creating the circular top, and refining the form. You’ll also have the chance to experiment with texture and surface decoration, whether you prefer a minimalist approach or something more intricate.
We’ll go over best practices for working with raw clay, from proper scoring and slipping techniques.
By the end of the class, you'll have a beautifully crafted, one-of-a-kind planter with an underplate. Whether you choose the light, airy cream clay or the deep, earthy brown, your creation will be a lovely addition to any home or garden. Plus, you'll gain valuable skills for continuing your clay journey!
Perfect for: Beginners and intermediate clay enthusiasts who want to try their hand at slab construction, develop a solid understanding of handbuilding techniques, and make functional art for their home.
You will choose your glaze colors, and Jo will transport your planters to her studio to be fired and glazed. Pieces will be available for pickup 2-3 weeks later.
