Open Studio

Whether you like to draw, paint, sculpt, or glue, we have a project for you! Visit us on the first and third Saturdays and Sundays of every month in the Tower Gallery on Level 4. Art projects change every month and offer new inspiration for playing and creating.

The first hour of Open Studio will be dedicated to providing a pleasant sensory environment for art making, with a focus on creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere. While this hour is geared toward visitors with auditory sensitivities, all are invited to join.

In November, make postcards for an imaginary world you create, inspired by works by Surrealist artists in the DMA's collection! Make a postcard to add to our communal display, and a second one to either keep or exchange for someone else's design. All ages are welcome and all materials are provided. Participants are encouraged to visit the galleries before or after the activity to see the actual artworks that influenced this project.
