La Comida: Celebrate Hatch with Oscar Contreras of Odelay Tex-Mex

Just like at the restaurant, you can expect nostalgia, warm hospitality, and FUN as you discover the secrets to incorporating Hatch chiles into some of your favorite, flavorful Tex-Mex staples. Oscar Contreras with Odelay Tex-Mex will guide you through the creation of his versions of an incredible stew featuring Hatch chiles, tomatillos, and pork; a delightful side dish of rice that includes fresh corn and black beans; and griddled flour tortillas filled with melted cheese and Hatch chiles to complement the meal. Oscar looks forward to sharing these favorites featuring Hatch chiles with you as you sample and enjoy each bite.

¡ODELAY! is an homage to Dallas' favorite cuisine, Tex-Mex. La comida is a collection of Dallas’s greatest hits, made with fresh and high quality ingredients. Expect nostalgia, warm hospitality, and FUN!

Oscar Contreras, born in San Luis Potosi, grew up in the restaurant business here in Dallas. He spent 20+ years at Rafa's on Lovers Lane - from the Dish Pit as a teenager, to Prep and Line Cook in the Kitchen, to all facets of Front of House Service. Oscar made the move to Odelay Tex Mex at their opening in April 2022, first behind the Bar, and then in charge of the whole operation as General Manager in Spring 2023. His knowledge of all aspects of the restaurant have made a major impact on the business, his team, and on the neighborhood.

Oscar's passions include cooking, family, and hospitality; he is always open to learning something new.

Attendees over 21 years old will enjoy a Hatch-infused Michelada with their meal.

Safety & Precautions

• At check-in, you will be asked to sign a waiver before entering the Cooking School.

• For that reason, we ask that all attendees arrive at least 5 minutes prior to the confirmed start time of the class.
